there's a jump coming into this step up and he failed to clear the 20 foot gap between and cased on the lip of the transition and bailed...good for the camera and bad for the rider/bike...i believe he tacoed his rim here....

excellent timing for the shot...super well framed for what's being photographed! probably one of the coolest manual shots around!

it's called PICTURE of the day for a reason...if you want a stunt driven awarded shot then e-mail pinkbike and ask for a STUNT of the day...if you agree it's a good shot then why not award it pic of the day? if it was a shitty blurry picture of somebody doing a 30ft road gap would that make it better than this pic? i doubt it...let the pic have it's day! i'm sure there'll be another pic of a rider doing a super-man over a gap soon (graham aggassiz shot!!) or another shot of paul bas flipping over other insano gap! till then enjoy the good shot!
